01What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work the same way. UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) requires us to tell you what we store and to ask your consent for anything that is not strictly necessary.
02Cookies and storage this site uses
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Lasts |
|---|
| cw-consent (local storage) | COULLWORKS | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so we do not ask on every page | Strictly necessary | Until you clear site data |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells visits apart so pages can be counted, anonymously | Analytics (consent) | 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Keeps the state of a visit session | Analytics (consent) | 2 years |
| _clck | Microsoft Clarity | Keeps a pseudonymous Clarity user ID for this site | Analytics (consent) | Set by Microsoft |
| _clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Joins page views into one session recording | Analytics (consent) | Set by Microsoft |
| CLID, MUID, ANONCHK, MR, SM | Microsoft (third party, on Microsoft domains) | Identify the browser to Clarity, and across Microsoft sites | Analytics (consent) | Set by Microsoft |
03Strictly necessary storage
Your consent choice is stored so the site can respect it. It holds only Accept or Reject, nothing about you, and it cannot be switched off because without it we could not honour your choice.
04Analytics, and how consent works
Google Analytics is off until you press Accept. The site uses Google Consent Mode with analytics storage denied by default, so nothing from Google is set or loaded before you choose. If you reject or ignore the banner, analytics never loads.
When enabled, Google Analytics records pages viewed, approximate location by country, device type and how you arrived. It also counts a few actions, without anything you type: clicks on Book a call and on email links, a call booked in the calendar, a message sent from the contact form, and a check run in the AI visibility checker. IP addresses are anonymised, and the data is not used for advertising.
Microsoft Clarity loads only after you press Accept as well, and is told you have refused advertising storage. When enabled, it records how pages are used: clicks, scrolling and session recordings, with sensitive form fields masked by Clarity's default settings. Withdrawing consent tells Clarity to erase its cookies.
05Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time: use Change my choice at the top of this page, or Cookie settings at the foot of every page. Withdrawing consent stops analytics from then on, deletes the Google Analytics cookies from your browser and tells Microsoft Clarity to erase its own.
06Controlling cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies does not stop this site from working, because nothing on it depends on them. Your browser's help pages explain how: Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all have a site settings or privacy section for this.
07Third-party services
When you choose to book a call, the booking page is provided by Calendly, which may set its own cookies under its own cookie policy. This site does not load Calendly until you choose to book.
08Changes to this policy
If we add or change anything we store, this page and the table above are updated, and you will be asked again where your consent is needed.
